Eagles Post Draft Analysis

The NFL Draft concluded yesterday and the Eagles came away with 10 players and acquired one in a trade.






Here is a full list of the players that the birds selected:

• Round 1, Pick No. 21: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
• Round 2, Pick No. 53:  Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
• Round 3, Pick No. 103:  Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado
• Round 4, Pick No. 127:  K'Von Wallace, S, Clemson
• Round 4, Pick No. 145:  Jack Driscoll, OT, Auburn
• Round 5, Pick No. 168:  John Hightower, WR, Boise State
• Round 6, Pick No. 196:  Shaun Bradley, LB, Temple
• Round 6, Pick No. 200:  Quez Watkins, WR, Southern Miss
• Round 6, Pick No. 210:  Pince Tega-Wanogho, OT, Auburn
• Round 7, Pick No. 233:  Casey Toohill, OLB, Stanford

Reagor was their first round pick after missing out on the top tier receivers. He was hated on very much not cause of his skill but because the fans wanted Howie Roseman to move up and take CeeDee Lamb. However, I'm actually excited about Reagor. He is a very fast and shifty receiver who will offer a long ball threat. Stretching the field is going to be big for Wentz. 

Jalen Hurts was picked 53rd overall for the birds. This pick I am still struggling to understand. But I have already expressed my frustration with that so I don't want to get into it now. 

The next pick that I'm really excited about is K'von Wallace. Watching film on Wallace I was really excited about him. He's a safety that does his best work down in the box. He can also cover the field well from sideline to sideline. He looks like he just knows how to play football. Look for him to be a very good player on the Eagles.

I'm also excited about John Hightower and Quez Watkins. Both are very fast receiver who will stretch the field as well. Watkins has the second fastest 40 during the combine at a 4.35. The receiving core has gotten much faster and much more athletic which is something that they desperately needed. 

Another big aspect of the draft was that the Eagles acquired Marquise Goodwin from the 49ers. Goodwin is another fast receiver who will again stretch the field like the three receiver that they picked in the draft. 

So all in all post draft look for the receivers to be smaller and faster than they ever were before. I foresee Carson Wentz throwing a lot of deep balls down the field, something that I'm actually very excited for.

What the Hell is Going On?

The Eagles take a Jalen Hurts. A QUARTERBACK! IN THE SECOND ROUND!. Their thought process? No one knows, literally no one. I don't know what is going on and I am outraged.

Howie. Please. Why. Your going to give people in my family heart attacks.

It's unthinkable that they would take a QB with a second round pick having your franchise QB in Carson Wentz. He's your guy and that has been what the franchise has said from the day that he was drafted.

I hate the pick. I hate it.

What make me the most mad about the whole thing is that Howie Roseman ultimately refused to trade a second round pick in order to move up to take CeeDee Lamb or even Ruggs or Juedy.

But no. Howie saved that second round pick to take a backup QB.

Howie, you sir are paying for anything that gets broken in my house tonight.

Eagles Draft Jalen Reagor With the 21st Overall Pick

The first round of the NFL Draft this year was the most watched draft event ever due to the virus canceling everything involving sports. And it was a spectacle for sure. Something that I very much enjoyed and was glad that it worked out for the league.

The Eagles, however, did not get the spectacle memo. Much to mine and every Eagles fans disappointment.

Instead Howie Roseman decided to sit at 21 and watch the top receivers get picked one by one. Even CeeDee Lamb who was the last to go of the trio at 17 to the Cowboys.

The damn Cowboys.

The top receiver in the draft just fell and fell and was there for the Cowboys. Which will pose an entirely different problem now for the birds when playing the boys in terms of covering their multitude of offensive weapons.

The Eagles were then faced with the decision of Choice A picking the next best receiver, Justin Jefferson from LSU or Choice B, taking a Linebacker, most likely Kenneth Murray. Either of which I would have been happy with and completely understood.

But no. Howie chose Choice C! Choice C wasn't even an option for those keeping track at home.

Howie picked Jalen Reagor, a receiver from TCU.

Reagor was second round receiver in the opinion anyone who knew what a draft was. But not Howie! He knows something we don't and he took Reagor at 21.

Is this a bad pick? Simply put, I don't know. The goal of this draft was to find a receiver that could have an immediate impact on the struggling Eagles offense. So, only time will tell.

NFL Draft 2020

Today Commissioner Goodell announced that the NFL would be moving the draft to a complete remote draft, with GMs picking from there own houses.

This means no war rooms and certainly no stage walk ups. But most importantly it means no booing Goodell as he announces the pick, which is a shame because booing him has become an NFL Draft staple which millions of fans look forward to each year.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see what a complete virtual draft looks like with GMs being at their own homes. Will this effect any picks or make things easier for GMs since they can pick with out a whole staff breathing down their necks?

We will have to wait til April 23 to find out. The NFL Draft will still be broadcasted on ESPN and ABC and I look forward to seeing Howie Roseman quarantined in his house for the safety of the NFL. God Speed Howie.

New Eagle: Darius Slay

Darius Slay is one of the newest Eagles and he is bringing with him a swag unlike anything else. 

On an Eagles team that has always had a subpar (to say the least) secondary, this swagger is refreshing but its even better that it is backed up with great play to match the electric swag. I mean this guy has been called a top five corner in the entire league by many people. (not to mention he is rumored to have real estate in Amari Cooper's head, something that couldn't hurt as an Eagle). 

Slay is a guy who has been to numerous Pro Bowls but very little playoff games. And from everything that I can tell he built for every bit of the playoffs. He's definitely looking to go deep into the post season with Philadelphia and he is guy you want guarding the other teams best receiver with a playoff game on the line. 

Slay is someone who wants the game on his shoulders. He has said that he wants to be guy going up for a 50/50 ball in the corner of the endzone with no time left in the game with the other teams best receiver. He will take the other teams number one receiver and eliminate him from the game, take a guy that dominates games and makes him a non factor.

I'm excited to have Slay as an Eagles. Good secondary play is something that you don't realized while you have it, but it's the first thing that you notice when its gone. 

The Eagles have gone a long time with out very quality secondary play. Yes, Malcolm Jenkins was quality and he was even elite but as good as Jenkins was for the birds, Slay is on another level and I cannot wait to see him lockdown elite receiver and bring great corner play and eventually great secondary play to the city.

My Greatest Eagles Memories

The Eagles have given me some of my greatest memories an unfortunately some of my worst memories. I've cried tears of joy and tears of sadness and I wouldn't trade any of it for the entire world.


My greatest memory as well as many eagles fan would absolutely have to be the Super Bowl win.

It was a day that I will never forget as long as I may live. But the best part of it all was definitely the parade. My school as well as many in the area gave us off for the day since they knew no one would go to school on such an amazing day.

The day was cool and windy but nothing would stop it from feeling like most amazing day in the world. Which it hundred percent lived up too.

The entire thing was amazing. The feeling of pure enjoyment being in center city with literally millions of other eagles fan feeling the euphoria that I was feeling too. It was a true testament of the amazing city of Philadelphia and how strong the city can truly be.

It was the greatest day in my life as a Philadelphia Eagles fan and I hope to God that it will happen again.

2020 NFL Season

With the COVID-19 outbreak crippling the world everything somewhat related sports has been cancelled in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus and give the healthcare system a fighting chance.

The NBA, NHL and MLB have all cancelled their seasons. The NFL, being the only major sport out of season, has only one event during this time period, the draft. The league opted to continue with the draft but to have it moved from the traditional style and will instead go on as a televised program where the teams call in with their picks.

This means no first round picks putting on their new teams hats and walking up to shake commissioner Goodell's hand.

That is terrible in and of its self. Its terrible because so many kids that grew up dreaming of walking across that stage won't get the chance, but that is the world that we live in now.

Anyway, as messed up as all this is the ultimate threat has been tossed around as of late. Canceling the 2020 NFL Season. Owners do not know when the lockdowns and restrictions will last until, meaning they don't know if they will be able to start OTAs or even training camp on time.

We all hope that by the time training camp rolls around that life will be back to normal and frankly all of us hope that day comes much sooner than that. But we have to prepare as though that will not be the case because with the way this is trending it doesn't look as though as it's letting up anytime soon.

There has been one idea that I'm particularly interested in as toward playing the 2020 season. One owner proposed the idea of moving the whole league and television crews to a remote location that is COVID-19 free and playing the season there. He said that they would test people before they came into the facility keeping the virus from spreading within the football community. The season would be televised for people to watch and it would be normal football at the normal football times (That is without the teams stadiums or home crowds).

Probably the reason that I'm interested in this because is because it sounds so ridiculous. To ask grown men making millions of dollars a year to leave their families and move to a remote location so they can put on a television product just sounds insane. But then again it sounds a helluva lot better than no football.

I'm assuming that the leagues only other options would be to not play the season at all or to delay the season and start it at a later date when everything is safe.

Either NFL is in a somewhat easier position compared to the NBA, NHL and MLB because they can go off the precedent that those leagues set as toward returning to play.

Only time will tell. We will all just have to brave this new world together as one.
